CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO PROVIDE SERVICE PROVISION UNDER THE FUSION PROGRAMME.

Organisation offering: Malta Council for Science and Technology

Details:

Announcement 1: Addendum to the Call – Section 4.17 – Initial Patent Application Activity – Other Forms of Intellectual Property(IP).

The Service Provider might be requested to cater for other forms of Intellectual Property such as Trademark registration, Design rights, Geographical Indication (GI) protection and more.

Budget: The scope and cost of such a service is to be negotiated with the Council and will be treated on a case by case basis with up to a maximum of €15,000. This Budget shall be exhausted and completed within twelve (12) months from the end of the

Technology Development Project date stipulated in the Grant Agreement relative to the project undertaken by the beneficiary in terms of the Technology Development Programme.

Reimbursement to the beneficiary will only be granted when an official payment receipt and related documentation is presented to and approved by the Council.

Expected Consultants’ Criteria: Relevant qualifications of named consultants and/or associates should include a post graduate academic qualification with particular specialisation in IP. 

 

This is a Call for Expression of Interest for the provision of advisory support to researchers and industry players in preparation for the commercialisation of their ideas within local and/or foreign markets, through the framework of the FUSION Commercialisation Voucher Programme and the Technology Development Programme.

 

This expression of interest is open to Service Providers specialising in the following areas:

  • Stage 1: IP Check;
  • Stage 2: Market Research and Product Development Costing (as a joint offering);
  • Stage 3: Economic Impact and Risk Profile (as a joint offering); Applicants for Stage 2 must be able to provide services for Stage 3.
  • Stage 4: Initial Patent Registration;
  • Stage 5: Business Plan; and
  • Stage 6: Setting up of Investors Meetings

Interested parties should have a proven track record and will be expected to work under their own initiative and in dialogue with the Council.

CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO PROVIDE EVALUATION SERVICES UNDER THE FUSION PROGRAMME.

This is a Call for Expression of Interest for Evaluators to provide advisory support to the Malta Council for Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Council) in the systematic and objective assessment of submitted project proposals, stage reports and due diligence evaluations on both the Commercialisation Voucher Programme and Technology Development Programme.

 

The aim is to determine the relevance and fulfilment of objectives, suitability, effectiveness, impact and sustainability as per guidelines stipulated by the Council for both projects and stages.

 

This Call is open to Evaluators with expertise in any of the following areas:

 

Project Scientific Opinion:

  • Maritime;
  • Aquaculture;
  • Health;
  • High Value Added Manufacturing;
  • Resource Efficient Buildings;
  • ICT;
  • Aviation and Aerospace and
  • Tourism Product Development.

Stage Report Evaluations:

Due Diligence Evaluations: This includes but is not limited to: a check on the organization, a review on whether it is financially sound, a review of whether it has the capacity, capability and expertise to deliver and a check on its systems and processes to deliver.

 

Interested parties should have a proven track record and will be expected to work under their own initiative and in dialogue with the Council.

 

Interested applicants are to submit their application documents electronically to voucher.mcst@gov.mt with “Call for Evaluators in [select preferred area(s)]” as a subject heading. Interested Evaluators are requested to submit their response and all relevant documents by not later than noon on 20th November 2017. If selected, the agreement shall run for a period of one year.

Calls for Expressions of Interest for the Possibility to join the Human Brain Project

Please find below four calls for Expressions of Interest for the possibility to join the Human Brain Project as potential new Partners to submit proposals that will directly contribute to the development of the HBP Platforms (that will ultimately become the HBP-Joint Platform) and increase the scope of their application, in terms of neuroscience and clinical research.

The deadline for submission for all calls is 30 September 2017. The selected Partners will become full Partners in the HBP Consortium. The projects will run from April 2018 to March 2020 (SGA2 phase).

These calls have a substantial amount of funding, and have the aim of fostering new collaborations across the full width of the HBP Subprojects and the scientific community:

Co-designing the HBP digital infrastructure for advancing the understanding of multilevel brain organization (EUR 1,839,424.00; split between two selected proposals).
Co-designing the HBP digital infrastructure for advancing the understanding of multilevel brain organization aims to help neuroscientist and clinical researchers integrate data and knowledge about the brain across all levels of its spatial and temporal organization, to provide an integrated framework to federate and analyze massive volumes of brain data. To accomplish so, it is important that the proposals for this call bridge or integrate the activities of at least 3 subprojects of HBP.

Coordination of Data Protection in the HBP (EUR 318,750.00; one proposal will be selected).
Some of the activities requested for the Coordination of Data Protection in the HBP include to do an impact assessment of the privacy and data protection, to perform a review of the processes of data protection to ensure that the HBP and its partners are in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, and to communicate the requirements and responsibilities to all partners involved in human data collection and processing.

Modelling Allosteric Drugs (EUR 225,000.00; one proposal will be selected).

Call for Expression of Interest in Greece - Society and Enterprise Panel (H2020-MSCA-IF-2017-SE)

Singular Logic S.A. in Greece (www.singularlogic.eu) is searching for experienced researchers interested in submitting a joint application for the Call of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, under Society and Enterprise (SE) Panel.

The MSCA-IF-SE scheme offers the opportunity for promising experienced researchers to conduct applied research in the non-academic sector. The call is open only to experienced researchers, i.e., researchers that at the date of the call deadline (14 September 2017) are in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. In addition, the candidate must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Greece for more than 36 months in the 5 years immediately before the call deadline. Note that according to statistics published for the H2020-MSCA-IF Call in 2016, the Society and Enterprise Panel had the highest acceptance rate (~35.6 %) among all panels of H2020-MSCA-IF call.

Call for FUSION: The Research & Innovation Commercialisation Voucher Programme is now open

The Malta Council for Science and Technology is inviting new applications for funding under the FUSION Commercialisation Voucher Programme. The deadline is noon on the 19th June 2017. 

The Commercialisation Voucher Programme is another instrument aimed at bridging the existing gap in the R&I framework as well as improving the overall development and commercialization potential of innovative ideas. This Programme is to act as a demand side measure and entice user driven innovation, with the ultimate aim of increasing research, technological development and innovation activities, which can eventually be implemented in industry. The Vouchers are primarily intended to assist prospective applicants of the FUSION Technology Development Programme in order to prepare themselves better in terms of project proposal and validation. In some cases it may also assist beneficiaries of previous or current R&I Programmes as well as projects funded through the European Programmes. 

Submission, evaluation and selection of application will be in the form of a one-stage process in which a legal representative of the applicant will be asked to submit all the necessary information, to enable a decision on acceptance or rejection. The Commercialisation Vouchers are subject to a Scientific Evaluation and priority will be given to the Smart Specialisation Areas. State Aid rules apply.

Interested parties should submit their application form electronically to voucher.mcst@gov.mt with ''Commercialisation Vouchers Application Submission'' as a subject. The Application must be dated, signed and initialised (stamped or signed) on each page by the legal representative. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the timely and correct delivery of the application to the Council. It should be noted that emails larger than 6MB shall be automatically rejected by the system. All received applications shall be acknowledged by email or in writing.

Note to applicant as from this Call:

The application form follows a pre-determined editable pdf template with fixed font and margin size. 
Altering the parameters of the template will automatically lead to disqualification. Text should not exceed the printable area of the text boxes. 
Annex I (optional) can be used to include a clear diagrammatic representation of how the project will go beyond the state-of-the-art. Annex I should be stamped or signed by the Legal Representative and scanned together with the application form.

EMPIR Call 2017

Details:

EURAMET e.V. has launched a Call within the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR) addressing the topic areas ‘Metrology for Industry’, ‘Fundamental Metrology’, ‘Metrology Research for Pre- and Co-normative projects’ and ‘Research Potential' on 10 January 2017.

Please draw attention to your stakeholders the opportunity to submit potential research topics in order to prioritise the research for metrology in the fields. Feel free to circulate this information as your relevant National Contact Points may find this Call of interest.

Stage 1 of the Call is for Potential Research Topics (PRTs), open from 10 January 2017 to 20 February 2017.

Stage 2 of the Call is for Joint Research Projects (JRPs), will open on 15 June 2017 to 02 October 2017.

EURAMET will issue a Call for Support for Impact projects designed to increase the impact from completed iMERA-Plus and EMRP projects open from 25 July 2017 to 25 September 2017.

Whilst the EMPIR is executed primarily by the national metrology institutes and designated institutes of the participating countries, all interested parties are invited to submit potential topics in Stage 1. Opportunities for wider participation also exist at Stage 2.
