The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China would like to announce that the SINO-MALTA Fund 2024 Joint Call for Project Proposals is now open for Malta-based applicants. The SINO-MALTA Fund supports research, development, and innovation projects between Malta-based and China-based researchers.

For the SINO-MALTA 2024 Joint Call, the eligible Thematic Areas are:

  1. Health, with a focus on:
    • Cancer,
    • Cellular therapy,
    • Drug development,
    • Traditional Chinese Medicine,
    • Digital tools to support healthcare.
  2. Green and Blue Economy Transitions, with a focus on:
    • Renewable energy,

The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) is receiving proposals under the Research Networking Scheme (RNS). The Scheme consists of two components, the Networking Scheme and the Open Access Journal Support . Applicants are to fill in the appropriate sections of the form; they may select one of the components or both:

Networking Scheme: opportunities for collaborative initiatives between Maltese entities and at least one foreign entity of proven track record of excellence. Proposals should describe the nature of the joint activities that would be funded through the Award. Applicants are to demonstrate how the proposed activities contribute towards and align with achieving the goals of the National R&I Strategy, and to describe the potential of any activities to become self-sustaining or generate longer-term outcomes. The amount of the Award under the Networking Scheme is up…

Horizon Internationalisation Partnership Award Scheme (HIPAS)

The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) is receiving proposals under the Horizon Internationalisation Partnership Award Scheme (HIPAS).

The Scheme will support Maltese eligible entities intending to submit a Horizon Europe proposal (including Partnerships indicated in the Scheme Rules), as a Coordinator entity to engage a service provider (local or foreign) who will be supporting the applicant entity through proposal writing and submission.

Interested Applicants are to submit their application form electronically to horizon.malta@gov.mt keeping Lili Kankaya lili.vasileva@gov.mt in copy with “HIPAS – Application 2024” as a subject heading.

The call will be open throughout the year with the following cut offs:

  • 19th April 2024
  • 19th July 2024

Participants are invited to submit COST Action proposals contributing to the scientific, technological, economic, cultural or societal knowledge advancement and development of Europe. Multi- and interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged.

The Open Call Action proposal submission, evaluation, selection and approval (SESA) procedure is fully science and technology-driven and will ensure a simple, transparent and competitive proposal evaluation and selection process, reflecting the bottom-up, open and inclusive principles of COST.

Participants planning to submit a proposal for a COST Action will need to refer to the SESA guidelines and to the Open Call Announcement available on the below link.

In 2 years EENergy project will distribute €9 million in form of 900+ grants for SMEs throughout Europe to engage in activities, purchases or integrations that will improve their overall energy spendings with a minimum of 5 %.

Women TechEU is a 2-year EU-funded project supporting women leading deep tech startup companies from Europe.

Our mission is to create a more gender-balanced entrepreneurship ecosystem. We believe that diversity drives innovation, and we are here to provide women in deep tech with more opportunities, resources, and support to thrive.

The project consortium is launching 4 calls for applications over the span of 2 years which, following a rigorous evaluation process, will result in a total of 160 beneficiaries. Each beneficiary will receive €75k grants (non-dilutive finance) as well as a personalised business development programme which includes mentoring, coaching and targeted training among other options.

FUSION R&I: Research Excellence Programme 2024 Call

FUSION R&I: Research Excellence Programme 2024 Call
Source of Funding: Malta Council for Science and Technology

The Malta Council for Science and Technology would like to announce that it is currently receiving project proposals under the FUSION R&I: Research Excellence Programme.

This call provides financial support (up to €80,000) for the early-stage development of innovative projects, through a bottom-up approach. All scientific research areas are being considered, and for projects which may be commercially applicable, this programme targets research at the initial Technology Readiness Levels (between TRL 1 and TRL 4).

Project proposals should be sent electronically and received by not later than 23:59 CET on Monday, 18th March, 2024.
