I4I is a national funding initiative designed to boost applied, industrial R&D and drive incremental product and process improvements. 

I4I is a scheme, tailored to strengthen Malta’s industrial sector and enhance its competitiveness through sustainable, innovation-based growth.

EIT Urban Mobility invites innovators from across Europe to submit a proposal to its Strategic Innovation Open Call, designed to accelerate the deployment of impactful solutions that address the most pressing challenges in urban mobility.

The call focuses on supporting ambitious, market-critical projects that tackle clearly defined problems faced by cities, public authorities, and mobility providers. We aim to de-risk development and enable large-scale deployment by backing solutions with a clear path to market and the potential to scale across Europe.

EIT funding allocation

The total estimated funding allocated to this Call is 60 million EUR for the period 2026-2028 and has multiple cut-off dates.

The Research Networking Scheme (RNS) is a support scheme designed to strengthen Malta’s research ecosystem by supporting local and international networking, knowledge exchange, and collaborative engagement.

RNS will have 3 different schemes available:

  • The Local Networking Scheme for two or more Maltese Entities or Maltese and Foreign entities to collaborate and host an event related to research here in Malta!

  • The International Networking Scheme which covers travel costs for attending conferences abroad, short scientific missions and other research related activities.

  • The Open Access Journal Support – available to Xjenza Malta research grant holders to publish their results!

Xjenza Malta is receiving proposals under the ERC Support Scheme. The Scheme aims to strengthen the opportunities for talented researchers to obtain grants from the ERC (European Research Council) for excellent and ground-breaking research based on researchers’ own ideas within all areas of research. 1st Malta-Poland Call for Proposals for Joint Research and Innovation Projects (2026)

Xjenza Malta, in collaboration with Poland’s National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), has officially launched the Malta–Poland 2026 Joint Call for Research & Innovation, aimed at supporting cross-border cooperation between Maltese and Polish entities. The Call seeks to strengthen bilateral collaboration in priority areas of shared national interest and to encourage innovative solutions with international impact.

The initiative is co-funded by Xjenza Malta through the Access2GlobalResearch (A2GR) Scheme and by NCBR through the INNOGLOBO Programme.
