The Ocean Decade 2024 Conference was hosted in Spain last 10 to 12 April 2024. A new roadmap was co-produced by DG Research and UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC/UNESCO). 

The roadmap showcases the European Commission's commitment and contributions to OceanDecade and highlights its role as a major player in ocean R&I throught initiatives such as:

• Horizon Europe
• MissionOcean & its European Digital Twin
• The European Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP)
• The All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA)
• Recognises the European Commission, represented by DG RTD, as an active supporter of the Ocean Decade and sets out partnership priorities between the European Commission and IOC-UNESCO. 

These include:

• mutual support for Ocean Decade and related EU R&I activities
• making marine data, knowledge and R&I solutions readily available
• mobilising and networking of partners
• continued alignment between Ocean Decade and EU activities.
